Hear about the lessons learned from transforming a site steeped in history to a state of the art Smart Factory – the technologies and techniques deployed and what it means to BAE Systems and their customers.
The small arms ammunition plant in Radway Green, Cheshire, has supplied vital munitions to the British military since World War Two. Today, it’s embracing Industry 4.0 and the digital environment by introducing technologies and techniques that will transform the site into a ‘Smart Factory’. George Schofield, General Manager for the plant, discusses their journey to date, lessons learned, and what the transformation means for BAE Systems and its customers.
George graduated from Brunel University in 2012 with a Masters in Aerospace Engineering. He joined defence technology company BAE Systems on the Engineering Graduate Programme as a design engineer within the Land UK area of the business and over the past eight years, has worked across a broad product portfolio, holding positions in engineering, project management and more recently, operations.
